Cambelts are an essential part of your engine and not replacing your cambelt at the manufacture's recommended interval can result in serious damage to your vehicles engine. At Chris Baker Auto Services we are keen to help you avoid huge repair bills caused by cambelt failure. Do not forget it is not only the mileage interval but also the age interval that is important as the cambelt is made of rubber and rubber perishes after a period of time.
It is essential on most vehicles that a complete cambelt and pulley kit is replaced as often it is the tensioner or pulley that actually breaks ending in the same result.
If you have recently purchased your vehicle or cannot find out when your cambelt was last replaced we can tell you what the service interval is.
If in any doubt it is cheaper to replace than to have it break. It is better to be safe than sorry.
Replacing the water pump.
On a lot of vehicles the water pump is driven by the camshaft drive belt and is advisable to replace the water pump at the same time as replacing the cam belt.
PLEASE NOTE THIS IS ONLY AN ADVISORY.
If it is not replaced it is possible it may fail at a future date causing the cam belt to break prematurely or the water pump may possibly leak which would mean the whole job of replacing the cam belt would have to be done again as you must never refit used cam belt.
In the long run it will save you money and will be peace of mind.
We can estimate with or without water pump and is the customer’s choice.
Reminder letters are sent to customers when replacement date is due.
After a new cambelt has been fitted by ourselves we put cambelt stickers under the bonnet and on driver's door pillar. We also write in the service book.
It is also updated on our computer records so every time we see your vehicle we automatically know when the cambelt is next due for replacement.
